Review: The Computer Connection
Editorial Review - Kirkus ReviewsPester's first novel in seventeen years--a bookful of outrageously clever ideas slapped together without much cement. Takeoff point is an unlikely crew of people who for some reason react to fatal trauma by becoming immortal. By 2080 the Group has been bopping around the planet for centuries picking up recruits, but then it tangles with a Cherokee scientist who no sooner becomes immortal than he's possessed by a mad computer which is possessed by a mad member of the Group who. . . . The best part of this enjoyable mess is the raucous argot Pester invents for his 21st century narrator.

User Review - Kevin - GoodreadsI absolutely loved some of Bester's other works, but in comparison, The Computer Connection falls flat. The plot and premise are great, but the presentation could have been better in my opinion. I still liked the story, but wanted more of something. Read full review

User Review - John - GoodreadsI read the original release of this book and consider this to be the grandfather of cyberpunk novels. For all that it's a short novel it's jam packed with vivid imagery. Find it, read it. Read full review

User Review - Keith Jones - GoodreadsI know I read this. I know I did. But, I swear that I cannot remember a single thing about it. Immortals? Okay, yeah, that sounds vaguely familiar. All I remember is that it was nowhere near as good as The Stars My Destination or The Demolished Man. Read full review
