Modernity and Self-identity: Self and Society in the Late Modern Age

Excellent Text on the self and identity with changing times and the all prevailing effects of modernity!!!

The whole point of a good book is to communicate some important ideas, but the author's writing style is so complicated and hard to follow, that those ideas get lost in the struggle to figure out what is being said. You get the feeling the author is just "showcasing" is fancy writing abilities, and that he must be trying to communicate not with you or any average reader, but with other fancy, complicated writers who value the words themselves more than the ideas being conveyed. It's as if the ideas were just an excuse to write those fancy, complicated, unintelligible paragraphs - you know, for show.
