Cookery the Australian Way is two things. It is a Home Economics textbook, and is also a cookbook, so it is useful on two levels, and if you happen to have to get it for the former, at least this is one book that will come in handy later on, or in fact is an ok purchase for general cooking purposes. It gives overall information on food and food classes, as well as recipes.
