In the most interesting chapter, 'Crime and Law', Creswell and Trenoweth have managed to take a neglected area of Australian history and compile a wealth of crims and cops whose entries leap off the page. From the gruesome Frances Knoor (the 'Baby Farmer') to Sir Redmond Barry (the man who hanged Ned Kelly), this section is fascinating and unique.
