Brisbane Then & Now

People have lived in the Brisbane area for thousands of years. Aboriginal occupation in parts of the region pre dates the end of the last Ice Age. The first Europeans arrived in the early 1820s with free settlers arriving in the 1840's, when they began to create the capital city of a new colony. Brisbane born Helen Gregory, an experienced historian and heritage consultant specialising in researching and writing Queensland and Brisbane history, has used archival photos and documents from the late nineteenth century through to the 1950s.
