Rochester was never a knight in shining armor, so this book didn't necessarily harm my perceptions of him, but it definitely humanizes the woman in the attic. Read full review

Reread my women in literature studies copy. Enjoyed it. I've never really liked Rochester and rereading this sealed the deal. Well drawn characters with lovely descriptions of the lush environment. Works well as a novella. Read full review
