This book looks at energy from the perspective of a person with no interest in the present system. Illich looks at energy as a divisive element in our modern societies; those with the means to energy get the advantage the energy brings at the expense of those without the means.
Illich looks at simple ways to govern the use of energy so that it is equitable, available to all equally. He manages to do this with profound effect. If we, as a society, had adopted Illiche’s ideas in the 70's we would live in a profoundly different world, as would our children and their children.
This book is accessible and profound. I believe it is a must read.
If I could change the world in one way, it would be in the way Illich suggests in this book.
This book is short, easy to read and profound.
