About the author (2007)

Among screenwriting credits, Bryan Forbes lists The Angry Silence, The L-Shaped Room, King Rat and Seance on a Wet Afternoon. He went on to become a film director, with great success, including Whistle Down the Wind, The Raging Moon, The Slipper and the Rose and The Stepford Wives, among many others. Previous novels include The Endless Game, The Memory of All That, International Velvet, The Slipper & the Rose, Quicksand and A Song at Twilight. Non-fiction works also include two autobiographies, Notes for a Life and A Divided Life, and That Despicable Race, a history of the British acting tradition.
