A Spot in TimePat Lee crafts a narrative in her latest collection of poetry. Presenting 61 poems in seven sections titled: Land and Sea; People; Feathers and Fur; Self Portrait One; Cornerstone; Voices Past; and Self Portrait Two, the author tells stories that weave a tapestry with which the reader will be able to identify and empathise, and which they will simply admire. Exploring the lived experience and travelling through time, place and landscape, Lee writes from, and takes the reader to, locations across South Australia - from the northern Flinders Ranges to Robe in the south, highlighting landscapes, which compare with those about which she writes in the UK, Poland and Japan. Pat Lee also explores her encounter with mortality as she writes about her experience of and struggle with Parkinson's disease. Lee's poetry is untethered from the weight of time and is written with crystal clarity; she leaves a legacy for those who come after her. Lee always finds the right word for the image to evoke a feeling, a place, a moment - a spot - in time. |
