Acceptance of an Offer Under the CISG.

The United Nations Convention on Contracts for the International Sale of Goods (CISG) came into force in Brazil comparatively recently in 2014. The CISG will now govern contracts for the international sale of goods with many of Brazil's major trading partners. This chapter considers the requirements for acceptance of an offer under the CISG. First, the core principles relating to acceptance are set out, the next part of the paper considers particular issues in relation to acceptance by electronic means, the time of acceptance and conflicts between an offer and acceptance. The chapter concludes by considering Brazil's position in relation to electronic commerce.
