About the author (2018)

AB Bishop is a horticulturist, landscape designer, garden researcher and writer. She coauthored The Australian Native Garden with Angus Stewart and assisted Angus with writing Creating an Australian Garden (she is listed as researcher). She was a researcher for ABC TV's Gardening Australia program for five years. She is a regular freelance writer for The Age newspaper and Gardening Australia magazine, and a regular guest presenter (and occasional host) on the Community Radio 3CR Gardening Program.

AB has given numerous talks to libraries, plant groups (including Royal Botanic Gardens Victoria) and open gardens, selling her book at each event. She was asked to be a speaker at the Bendigo Writers' Festival in August this year and to present a talk at the Royal Botanic Gardens Cranbourne in November.

AB lives in an environmental living zone in Victoria (her garden is featured in The Australian Native Garden) that protects native fauna and flora. She has a strong passion for Australian plants and believes that gardens should be built as much for protecting wildlife as for our own enjoyment. She currently works part-time at a large wholesale production nursery, where she is surrounded by thousands of plants.
