About the author (2018)

Bruce Harkness has over twenty years' experience working in the fields of leadership and talent development. He has worked internationally in Europe, Middle East, Africa, Asia and United States of America, as well as in Australia, where he currently resides with his family. Bruce has led large-scale change management initiatives in a number of multinational corporations, including Carlson Rezidor Hotel Group and Wyndham Vacation Resorts and Hotels: two of the world's largest hotel management companies. In addition, he has a passion for performance- focused business coaching. Prior to his corporate career, Bruce took a very different path and throughout his school years he could have been best described as disruptive, having attended three different high schools due to unruly behaviour. Unwise choices in his early years saw him taking 'a road less travelled'. Bruce also spent time in the Australian Army where he trained and served as an infantry officer. He then went on to complete a Bachelor of Arts degree at Edith Cowan University and, some years later, he graduated with a Masters of Science degree in Organisational Coaching and Mentoring from Sheffield Hallam University in the United Kingdom. Bruce is a devoted husband and passionate father to his two daughters, as well as being a keen surfer and outdoor enthusiast. But, above all, he is a pathological optimist.
