One of the books that 'everybody should read', this was named the '2nd greatest novel of the 20th century' by the Modern Library and it has now been filmed six times, including the latest version directed by Baz Luhrmann and starring Leonardo DiCaprio.

About the author (2011)

Francis Scott Key Fitzgerald (1896-1940) was born in Minnesota to an upper-class Irish Roman Catholic family. A Princeton student, he left before graduating to enlist in the US army during the First World War. In 1920, he married the beautiful Zelda Sayre and they became an iconic couple of their era - wild, glamorous and affluent. Fitzgerald penned four novels, dying before finishing a fifth. He died of a heart attack at the age of just 44.
