The Time MachineThis novel by the English writer Herbert George Wells (1866 - 1946), which appeared at the end of the nineteenth century, inaugurated an entire strand - that of time travel - which found enormous success in twentieth century science fiction. An English gentleman, amateur scientist, announces one night to his friends that he has built a car that can travel through time, both in the past and in the future, and to be about to leave for his first exploration. He gives them an appointment at his house for the following week. |
