This limp covered pocket book is intended to give the non-technical student aviator the outstanding essentials of the construction, maintenance, and use of the airplane, with emphasis on rigging. Author is Professor of Aeronautics in the University of Illinois.

Describes briefly recent German types of aeroplanes, i. e.: the Fokker, Aviatik, L. V. G., Rumpler, and Albatross; as well as the Mercedes motor.

The author, a member of the Royal Naval Air Service, writes entertainingly of the training of aviators and their work in the war. A large part of the book is devoted to his experiences while flying over the German lines.
