Reproductive Toxicology: In Vitro Germ Cell Developmental Toxicology, from Science to Social and Industrial DemandJesús del Mazo Reviews the current practices of analyzing germ and interacting cell in vitro culture systems to investigate toxicological damage on germ cells and reproductive systems. Focuses on methodology rather than findings, interpretations, or clinical applications. Covers advances in improving human risk estimation, new approaches to analyzing the exposure of germ cells to toxicological agents in vitro, molecular and developmental approaches to assessing reproductive toxicity, and comparing the assessment of animal risk in vivo and in vitro. Among specific topics are assays to measure estrogen and androgen agonists and antagonists, flow cytometry to evaluate testicular toxicity, current and future contributions of transgenic mice in analyzing germline toxicology, and a new assay to assess aneuploidy in human-hamster embryos. The 25 papers are from an October 1997 workshop in Granada, Spain. Annotation copyrighted by Book News, Inc., Portland, OR |
