They are definite in scope, comprehensive, yet so simple that even very busy people may study them with satisfaction. One very important consideration is this: all the material necessary to begin and complete each course is found in The Book of Life. Busy people will appreciate the value of having all the material readily at hand. This does not mean that no study is involved. Nothing of any value comes without effort; it does mean that for a minimum of effort, large results may be obtained. HOW TO USE THE COURSES Nine courses are given in the form of a complete program for one meeting each month, for each month in the year. Some clubs may find that the material is sufficient for two meetings each month. The program recognizes the fact that such meetings should have a reverent and spiritual atmosphere. Each meeting opens with prayer. This may be an extemporaneous prayer or one of the Prayers of the Ages. A Scripture reading is also suggested for each meeting. A hymn may also be sung if desired. The Topic suggests the main thought not only for the meeting but for study during the month. There are a number of suggestive sub-topics under each main topic. A paper may be prepared upon the main topic by some designated member of the club, or several papers by a number of members upon sub-topics. References are given for every topic and sub-topic, and where maps are available, reference is given in the index. To economize space, these references are given in this way: 4:278. This means that material which is helpful for the consideration of the topic will be found in Volume 4, Page 278, of The Book of Life. The Scripture reference is in every case indicated in this way. Where pictures help to illustrate the topic or sub-topic, their location is indicated in this way: P. 2:78; 5:279; 8:142. This shows that pictures will be found in Volume 2, Page 78; Volume 5, Page |
