He is the Fellow of the Indian National Science Academy, Indian Academy of Sciences, National Academy of Medical Sciences, Indian College of Allergy and Applied Immunology, Indian Academy of Vaccinology & Applied Immunbiology, a Fellow of the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, World Academy of Art & Science & La Academia Nacional de Medicina Mexico. Formerly he was Professor and Head of the Department of Biochemistry, All India Institute of Medical Sciences, New Delhi. Professor Srivastava is the recipient of several national and international awards/recognitions that include, Dr. B.C. Roy National Award of Medical Council of India for development of Speciality of Biochemistry, Dr. Vishwanath Gold Medal for outstanding work in the area of Biomedical Sciences, National Institute of Immunology Senior Scientist Oration Award of the Indian Immunology Society, Dr. Shurveer Singh Trust Oration Award for meritorious services to Medical Education and Research, KEM Hospital and G.S.
