TEXTBOOK OF BIOCHEMISTRY AND HUMAN BIOLOGY

Front Cover
PHI Learning, Jan 1, 2002 - Science - 1328 pages
This well-established text, now substantially revised and updated, provides compre-hensive coverage of biochemistry in the overall context of body function (and dysfunction). Though as originally envisaged, the text is written primarily for the medical student to be useful at all stages of medical education (and not only during preclinical years) its special features and coverage would also considerably help the graduate and postgraduate students of general biology and life sciences. The significant features of this new edition have been the major revisions by way of incorporating the recent advances in chapters dealing with human genetics, biochemical and molecular basis of inheritance, expression of genetic information, genetic engineering, immunology and present-day progress in vaccinology. The clinical biochemistry has been given special emphasis. The core chapters on cellular reactions, metabolism of carbohydrates, lipids and proteins and their interrelationship have been updated so as to equip the medical students with the knowledge to relate these with the diagnosis and monitoring of diseases.
