The story of the simple skateboard is part thriller, part underground, underdog success tale. It s chock-full of innovations, far-out graphic artistry, and ever-more-incredible hot-dogging feats. And the story s told in this book with contributions from the stars themselves Tony Hawk, Stacey Peralta, Jeff Ho, the Dogtown Z-Boys, and more. Beautifully illustrated with historical posters, ads, and memorabilia along with new action photography, studio skateboard shots, and unique portraits of the stars, this is a fitting tribute to an American classic.

NO DEBATE REGARDING PIER AVE VERSUS BAY STREET IN SANTA MONICA 1963... IF THERE WERE ANY EARLIER CONTEST... THEN THERE WOULD NOT HAVE BEEN ANY NEED FOR THE DECEMBER ONE WHICH MY TROPY READS 1ST NATIONAL SKATEBOARD CONTEST GIVEN TO ME BY THE MAYOR OF SANTA MONICA AT THE SURF FAIR PRESENTATIONS... IN DECEMBER 1963... MAKAHA EXHIBITION TEAM GREW FROM THEIR... REFERENCE MAGAZINE ARTICLES AND ADVERTISMENTS, NEWPAPER STORIES, VIDEOS SHOWING VARIOUS GROWTH OF "Team Jackets" over the years...
AND, I WAS THE ONE THAT DID NOT QUIT AS SELL OUT LIKE ALL THE OTHERS. I HAD OTHER REASONS FOR MY MOVING ON - AND TO THIS DAY HAVE NOTHING BUT PRAISE AND ADMIRATION FOR HOW LARRY STEVENSON TREATED ME FROM BEGINNING TO END. A true visionary that took care of "us kids" better than any could have thought possible!!!
PLEASE ANY PIER AVE INFO OF WHO ONE WHO WAS THERE I'D LOVE TO SEE IT...?????
MEANWHILE, NEVER MENTIONED, BUT THIS ARTICLE IS THE BIT ABOUT THE "RED BOARDS" THAT WERE CALL "TC" FOR "TOTAL COMMANDER" AND THOSE BOARDS WERE THE BEST THAT I HAVE EVER HAD OR EVER SEEN... TRUE MYSTERY LEGEND...
PROBLEM WAS, THE PROTOTYPE WERE FOAM INSIDES AND VERY LIGHTWEIGHT... WHEN PRODUCTION CAME... AS SURPRISE, THE INSIDES WERE WOOD AND THUS WERE TOO HEAVY TO RECLAIM THE MAGNATUDE OF THE PREVIOUS ACHIEVEMENT.
ALOHA,
SQUEAK BLANCK (JUST GETTING SICK OF SEEING WRONG INFO PERPETUATED)
