6 BENJAMIN' BREWSTER (Jonathan3, William1), married "Ann Darte the last Daye of febeare: 1659-1660" (Brewster Book and Norwich, Conn., T. Rec.), who "may have been the widow of Ambrose Dart of Boston who married Anne Adis daughter of William Addis of Cape Ann 24th-4th month,' 1653." "Ann Brewster Departed this life-the wife of Benjamin Brewster may the 91709." The above Named Benjamin Brewster Died in Norwich y 14th of Sept: 1710 & was Buried on Brewster Plain." Benjamin Brewster settled upon the homstead of his father at Brewster's Neck, which he acquired from his father and brotherin-law, John Picket. This farm was originally in the town of New London, but by the alteration of boundaries and the formation of new towns was afterwards successively included in the towns of Norwich, Preston, Groton, and Ledyard. He was a man of prominence, serving as deputy to the General Court of the Colony of Connecticut, 1668, '89, 90, 92, 93, 94, 95, '96, '97, lieutenant of the New London Troop, 1673, and captain of the military company of Norwich, 1693.

7 Colonel ISAAC ALLERTON (Fear Brewster, William1), married first, ELIZABETH "As early as 1652 he had a wife Elizabeth." (N. E. Reg., xliv. 292); married second, in Virginia, about 1663, ELIZABETH, daughter of Captain Thomas and Margaret (Herbert) WILLOUGHBY, of Lower Norfolk, Va., and widow of Major George COLCLOUGH. Isaac Allerton died between October 25th and December 30th, 1702.

Isaac Allerton lived many years with his grandfather, Elder William Brewster, by whom he was being educated. After graduating from Harvard College in 1650, he became associated in business with his father, Isaac Allerton, Sr., at New Amsterdam, New Haven, Conn., in Virginia, and elsewhere, and after the death of the latter in 1659, Isaac, Jr., settled in Virginia, where he became a wealthy and influential planter and "was prominent in the civil and military affairs of the colony."

"His plantation is laid down on Hermann's map of Virginia and Maryland, made in 1670."

He was a justice of Northumberland County, Va., in 1663; was several times a member of the House of Burgesses, and a member of the Governor's Council; was major under Col. John Washington (great-grandfather of President George Washington), in the expedition against the Indians in 1675; was appointed with Col. St. Leger Codd and Col. George Mason to superintend the erection of a garrison or store-house on the Potomac River in 1679; was lieutenant colonel of the Westmoreland Militia in 1683, and in 1699 was naval officer and receiver of the Virginia duties in Westmoreland County, including Yeocomico River.

In the will of "Hon. Isaac Allerton, of Westmoreland County, Va.," dated October 25, 1702, and proved December 30th, following,

he mentions his son Willoughby Allerton, daughter "Elizabeth Starr als. Heirs," daughter Sarah Lee and grandson Allerton Newton, daughter Traverse" and granddaughters Elizabeth, Rebecca, and Winifred Traverse.

Des., vii. 174, referring to Isaac Allerton's will, he says: "From the mention of a grandson, Allerton Newton, it is generally assumed that Isaac Allerton had a fourth daughter whose first name is unknown, but it is equally possible that he was the son of Sarah by a first husband, and this would account for the joint devise of lands to them."

† George Partridge came in the James, in 1036, on the same long, tempestuous voyage on which Rev. Ralph Partridge came. George Partridge was probably a son of James Partrich, of Wingham, who m. Christian Sims or Sams.
