THE present Number commences the third Volume of the Magazine. To our patrons and friends generally, we express our sincere thanks for their patronage and support, and bumbly solicit their continu

ance.

Those who are indebted to us for either the first or second Volume, will do us an act of justice, and, at the same time, very much oblige us, by paying up all arrearages without further delay.

All Subscribers, who have not given notice of discontinuance, and paid the full amount of their subscriptions previous to the first of November last, are, according to our terms, cousidered as Subscribers for the ensuing year.

We shall, in all cases, strictly adhere to the terms of this publication. We now make this declaration to avoid future difficulties and misapprehensions. We hope that it may be understood by all, and that none will complain, or refuse to pay us, if, in all cases, we shall continue to send the Magazine to Subscribers who have not given three months previous notice of discontinuance, and paid up their arrearages.

We again repeat what we asserted in the commencement of the second Volume; we embarked in this enterprise from no selfish motives-we seek no personal advantages-we ask no pecuniary compensation for our editorial services. Thus far, we have laboured gratuitously:-we have freely devoted our time and faculties to this work;and we have done this cheerfully, with a view of contributing to the general circulation of religious intelligence, and the encouragement of Missionary operations in our Church. We have endeavored as far as was consistent with our other numerous duties and avocations to render the Magazine interesting and instructive to our readers. And as long as no other hands can be found, to whom the work can be entrusted, we are willing to continue our humble labours with increased diligence and untiring zeal. Our labors are pledged to the interests of our Evangelical Lutheran Zion-to her welfare our efforts are consecrated We therefore hope to be favored with the continued patronage of her friends; and we will do all in our power to deserve it.
