from experience; I have, however, great faith in the skill, and reliance upon the honour, of the gentleman who recommended the medicine, and, in the hope that it may prove beneficial, in some instances at least, I give it a place here.

Cure for the Hooping Cough.

Dissolve a scruple of salt of tartar in a quarter of a pint of water, add to it ten grains of cochineal finely powdered, sweeten this with fine sugar, and give an infant a tea-spoonful four times a day. To a child of two or three years old two tea-spoonsful, from four years and upwards a table spoonful or more may be taken. The relief is immediate, and the cure in general within five or six days.
