1. What was said by an angel concerning the character of Christ? Luke 1: 35.

16. Christ lived in the midst of a very corrupt people and surrounded by temptations;-does that make his purity appear the more, or less conspicuous?

17. If now such was the holiness of his character, did he or did he not deserve the sufferings he experienced?

18. Did Christ suffer because he could not help it?

19. What proof is there that he could have destroyed all his enemies?

20. Could he have obtained help from Heaven? Matt. 26: 53.

21. Was Christ under any obligations to come from heaven and suffer as he did?

CHRIST SUFFERED FOR US.

1. In the last lesson you learned that Christ aid not suffer for himself; for whom did he suffer?

3. As that refers to the Messiah, what is meant by his "bearing our griefs, carrying our sorrows,' &c.?

4. Why was he "wounded for our transgressions?"

7. In the last lesson you learned that Christ was perfectly holy;-was it necessary or not that he should be holy? Heb. 7: 26.

11. Why was it necessary that Christ should be without sin?

LESSON XVII.

ETERNITY AND OMNIPOTENCE OF CHRIST.

1. Had Christ an existence before he became a man? John 1: 1, 2. 3: 13. 6: 33, 50, 51. 8.58.

2. In a number of places in the New Testament it is said God sent his Son into the world :

how does that prove that Christ existed before he came into the world? Can a person be sent from one place to another before he has an existence ?

3. In what condition was Christ, before he came upon earth? John 17: 5, 24.

4. Repeat 2 Cor. 8: 9.14

5. When was Christ rich?

6. Must he not then have existed before he was born in Bethlehem?

7. As Christ is our example, what important duty may we learn from the last scripture reference?

9. What being is eternal? Deut. 33: 27. Ps. 90: 2. Isa. 44: 6. 48: 12. 1 Tim. 1: 17.

10. Is any other being eternal besides God? 11. What is said of Christ? Rev. 2:8. 22: 13. 12. In Col. 1: 17, he is said to be "before all things," and in Heb. 1: 12, it is said his "years shall not fail;"-what attribute then does he possess?

13. What may we learn respecting Christ from the fact, that the same attribute is ascribed to him which belongs to God?

14. What is meant by omnipresence?

15. Is God omnipresent? Ps. 139: 7-12. Jer. 23: 23, 24. Let us now see whether Christ possesses this attribute.

17. On the Sabbath many churches assemble in his name at the same time; if, according to his promise, he is with them all, must he not be in many places at the same moment?
