I was a surviving, I was at Westbrook in the early 80's. I was there for a total of 4 weeks, where I spent my 16th Birthday. It happen in the first night, I heard the door open and there was an young officer coming in, the next 4 weeks was bloody hell, every night I was raped, and I was so bloody scared I could not tell no one. I had to go down to Brisbane where I stayed at the youth detention where the same thing happen. The officers was so brutal. One day we were travelling in a van, the the van pull over half way down the range, where the two officers open the back door and one at a time they came in and raped me. They told me if I said anything they will kill me. I was free when my 4 weeks were up and I return back to Bundaberg. When I went back to Bundaberg I reported this to Children's Service where they inform me I was safe now and just to put it behind me. Where is the Justice. I still have night mares about my days in West Brook if any one can help me my email address is riverboybob@hotmail.com

Unfortunately, I was a survivor of Westbrook in the late fifties.
I can still feel the belt and taste the castor oil mixed with sulpher powder after sixty years.
Have never gotten over it..............
The animal Gollidge and his cronies that ran the place have a lot to answer for..

Almost a compulsary read for all young adults in QLD. This is how serial killers are created. I don't know how this bloke kept himself together after leaving the place. Tamworth had a similar situation. Very moving about how in those days there was no predjudice between the black and white kids it was just them against the drunken creeps who ran the place.
