Collection of ticks from German East AFrica, posted to me on 31.VIII.1918
by Lt-Col. H. B. Newham, R.A.M.C. (of Lond. School of Trop. Med.) from
c/o D.D.M.S., E. Africa Exped. Force who wrote of the tubes: "The history
of them will interest you. In going over a lot of old things stowed away in
the German Laboratory here we came across this box with your name on, so they
had evidently been collected for you & probably the outbreak of war had
prevented them being sent. I spoke to the D.D.M.S. here (Col. Tate) & he
agreed with me that they ought to be sent to you so here you are." I am
sure the ticks were collected for me by Dr. Kudicke of the Institut für
Senchenbekämpfung, Daressalam, G.E.A. who had previously sent specimens.
