N 131 ORIGINAL DETERMINATION Amblyomma hebraeum? larvae Human Bihe District Angola Probably V.1905 Sent by Dr. F. C. Wellman Dr. Wellman writes 28.VII.1906 "Several years ago an English lady told me of a small white tick with a red head which appears in the middle of the wet season (Dec.March) in numbers, and the bite of which is very painful, causing swellings and constitutional symptoms, faintness, nausea, etc." She sent this in consequence to Wellman (VII.1905) in "eau de Cologne" which she said she removed from her skin, its bite resulting in the symptoms she originally detailed to me. The specimen is from Bihe District of Angola, and probably dates from May 1905." |
