About the author (1994)

Alan McCulloch (1908-92) was one of Australia's foremost art critics. He wrote widely for Australian and international art journals and was director of the Mornington Peninsula Arts Centre 1970-91. His other books included The Golden Age of Australian Art, the Heidelberg School and Artists of the Australian Goldrush. ..Susan McCulloch is Alan McCulloch's daughter and a Melbourne-based art writer and publisher. She has written on the visual and other arts for newspapers and magazines including the Age, Australian, Bulletin and Melbourne Herald-Sun.
