This reading made me carefully think about my teaching techniques. I don't always promote thinking to develop understanding. I often talk, demonstrate and ask students to complete a task. When teaching something new I need to ensure students can draw on past experiences and make connections to link the new concepts. Making students become aware of their own thinking will enhance and develop their learning process. I'm going to try and be aware of how to encourage students to cultivate their own thinking and learning.
