About the author (2014)

Gregory McNamee is a writer, editor, photographer, and consultant in publishing, film, and other media. He is the author or title-page editor of thirty-six books, including several on ecology and natural history, and of more than four thousand periodical pieces. He writes on science, culture, the environment, and other topics for many publications in the United States and abroad, and he is a contributing editor to the Encyclopaedia Britannica. McNamee divides his time between his home in Tucson, Arizona, and migratory habitats in Virginia, New York, Italy, and other places.
