There aren't many fictional characters that are going to stay with me forever, and Holden clearly stands out. Boy, is he brutally honest! From the beginning, he arrests you in his extraordinary wits and sincere emotions. Whatever he says about the people he encounter, or the places he's been to, leaves an impression upon you. You understand that he's not being phony and all. And that life gets really lousy at times, especially, when you're a teenager... the hell you go through when transitioning to adulthood. It gives you a picture, this book.
