it was amazing

The Catcher in the Rye amazes me for its heavy subjects and language considering its time. Salinger captivated feelings of depression, anxiety and paranoia so accurately and in a very raw sort of a manner. Many people misunderstand the whole point of the book and that perhaps is the reason many dislike it. It's a book about growth, going through a hard time. I feel like its tackling a bigger concept than just Houlden's life, a more general pain that might cloud young minds and the feeling of alienation from the surrounding world. I'd say there are many aspects that I can relate to and even with all of his immature and irritating traits, young Caulfield and his story do intrigue me and admittedly I feel quite sympathetic for him. The way Salinger dropped just enough hints but less enough for the reader to have something to figure out for themselves about the past of Caulfield. I do understand why one would dislike The Catcher in the Rye but I can't bring myself to do it. I had a wonderful reading experience, a journey of sorts.
